Finance

Cyprian’s interest in Finance was sparked while taking an Economics class at Oak Park & River Forest High School.  Following that course, it was pursued more seriously while working at the Oak Park Country Club, by interacting with Notable Chicago Traders and Financiers.  While working long hours at the prestigious Country Club, he often found himself sitting long dull hours, and began to kill his time by reading the Wall Street Journal.  In time, he started to place small trades off of the news he was reading through demo accounts, and truly found a passion for the markets.

Following that summer of work Cyprian went on to study Economics at Valparaiso University, where he was offered substantial scholarships to attend.  While at school, he regularly traveled back home to continue to work at the Country Club.  After 2 years at the University, Cyprian thought it would be best to come back to Chicago and pursue a career in the Financial Sector, primarily at a trading firm.

His first job was at a Prop Trading Firm by the name of ECHOTrade.  He put up his own capital and was required to hold a Series 7 & 63 Licenses.  Within 3 months, he obtained this license to become the youngest trader on the floor.  He primarely focused on Stocks within the DOW 30.

Following his position with ECHOTrade, Cyprian went on to pursue a position on the Brokerage Side of the industry, as Fixed Income Sales Rep with McLaughlin, Piven, Vogel Securities, where he assisted the branch manager in executing stock, option, and bond orders on behalf of the firm’s clientele.   In addition he was responsible for acquiring new retail clients through creative sales techniques.

After a few months, Cyprian wanted to once again pursue a position on the trading side of things.  He soon earned a role as the youngest Futures Trader at the prestigious Chicago Trading Firm GHCO Traders Co., now a part of Penson Financial.  He traded a variety of products including, DOW, S&P, NAS, Oil, Gold, and 10 Yr. Bonds.  During his time at the firm, Cyprian learned a lot about the industry, the markets, and strategies, but had to soon resign.  The trading industry offers many ups and downs, and this was a time where Cyprian learned those  lessons first hand.  Following his role with the firm, he thought it best to go back to school and complete his studies.

In early 2008, he was readmitted to DePaul University’s Business School, where he studied Finance.
